1. Enabling Conditions for Conservation
o Strengthen governance and policy mechanisms at local, national, and regional levels—especially in biodiversity, protected areas, and OECMs.
o Prioritize primary forest conservation in national and regional policies.
o Enhance multisectoral platforms for forest governance and management.
o Foster strong relationships and coordinate actions with key stakeholders (e.g., MARN, MAGA, INAB, CONAP, Indigenous associations, NGOs, and communities).
2. Forest Protection and Restoration
o Lead initiatives to improve the protection of primary forests within protected areas and expand OECMs to safeguard forest integrity and connectivity.
o Oversee the restoration of 21,379 ha to strengthen landscape connectivity.
o Promote collaboration with local communities for sustainable natural resource management.
3. Innovative Finance and Investment
o Drive strategies to mobilize financial resources for forest conservation and promote forest-friendly initiatives.
o Support proposal development for funding from donors and investors.
4. Learning, Partnerships, and Collaboration
o Strengthen national and regional coordination for forest protection.
o Facilitate knowledge sharing on global forest conservation models.
o Coordinate strategic partnerships with governments, the private sector, NGOs, and local communities.
o Collaborate within a diverse, multidisciplinary team.
5. Project Operations and Administration
o Lead project planning, budgeting, monitoring, and management of subcontracts and consultants.
o Ensure compliance with administrative, financial, and donor (TNC/IUCN-GEF) requirements.
o Oversee daily implementation of all project components (1, 2, and 3), including Terms of Reference and technical execution.
o Maintain flexibility for travel and work hours, uphold the Code of Conduct, and embody TNC values.
6. Project Management and Technical Capacity
o Monitoring & Evaluation: Implement and contribute to M&E frameworks, plans, and reports in coordination with the TNC and KMAL/M&E officer.
o Compliance & Reporting: Ensure regulatory compliance and timely submission of work and financial plans to IUCN and project steering bodies.
Communications: Lead project communication efforts in coordination with IUCN.
Gender Inclusion: Ensure gender is mainstreamed across planning and implementation phases.
